Inquiry has replaces the typical 'topic' part of the curriculum, and covers areas outside literacy and numeracy (such as science, social studies, technology etc.)
An inquiry-based learning approach helps children to develop information literacy, critical thinking and problem-solving
abilities and skills for lifelong learning. This approach to learning engages
and motivate students who work co-operatively and collaboratively to solve
problems and work towards a deeper understanding about different topics and ‘big’
questions.
- Superheroes In Our Community - There are people in our community whose job it is to keep people and animals safe; People have different roles and responsibilities as part of their participation in groups.
- Growing together - People in different groups have different roles and responsibilities; Ourselves, our class and family groups and our roles in them.
- Gardening (science focus) - Understand that plants need certain things and conditions to grow.
- What's Hot? - As materials go through changes they can form a new product or assume a new state and that materials can be changed by the application of heat.
